The egg donation process should not hurt. It is should be uncomfortable at most. During the Egg Aspiration process, you will undergo general anesthesia or heavy conscious sedation so you will not feel a thing. The procedure is an outpatient procedure that takes about 20 minutes or so. After the procedure, you will be kept in the recovery room for an hour to two hours. You can typically resume normal activity the next day.

One cycle typically takes 2 to 3 months to coordinate. You will need to work with an Attorney, a Reproductive Endocrinologist, a Geneticist and a Psychologist during the cycle. A Case Manager will facilitate the process for you. The cycle is not demanding on your schedule until the last 10 to 14 days of the cycle.

You will need to complete 6 to 8 doctor appointments. The visits occur during the early morning to avoid time conflicts with work or school. We will do everything to accommodate the process to your schedule and dates of unavailability. We require that you take the entire day off on the day of the retrieval.

The medication is an injection and typically must be taken every day for 8 to 12 days. The needles are very small; one of the smallest gauges. They should not be painful. They are similar to diabetic needles.

IVF technology has been in use since the late 1970’s. There are no known long-term side effects. However, some Donors do experience short term side effects similar to Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (“PMS”) symptoms like mood swings, bloating, cramping and fatigue. It is difficult to determine what type of side effect(s) an Egg Donor will experience, if any. We have several previous Donors that would be happy to tell you about their experiences if you would like.

The health risks are very similar to a normal pregnancy, but it is best to speak with your personal OB/GYN.

This will depend entirely on you and the Intended Parent(s). Some Surrogates maintain a very close relationship, while others have no contact after the birth. It is imperative to express your expectations prior to being matched.

Absolutely!

No! The Intended Parents will pay for all fees and costs related to the cycle. If you require specific testing (or retesting) directly related to your own health outside of the normal Surrogate screening process in order to clear you to proceed with a surrogacy cycle, you may be responsible for those costs.

There are two ways to gain access to our database. You can fill out a quick questionnaire online and Costa Health will contact you shortly to activate your account so you can view our Donors. The second option is to call our office directly. Costa Health will be happy to help you fill out the questionnaire and provide you with a name and password to log in.

This means that a Donor is currently in the process of being matched with another client. If you would like to be placed on the Donor’s “waiting list” please speak with your Case Manager. Your Case Manager will contact you if the match does not materialize. Another possibility is that this Donor has placed her profile on hold because she is temporarily unavailable to commit to a cycle but plans to in the near future.

If an Egg Donor is available, you can place her on a temporary hold for five (5) business days at no cost to you while you decide if she is the Donor you want to work with. A Surrogate can also be placed on a 3-day courtesy hold if she has approved your profile. She will also be placed on a 3-day hold following your meeting to decide whether you want to secure the match.

We have a special marketing team that will place advertisements for you and will search for your Egg Donor / Surrogate at no additional cost to you.

We highly recommend working with an attorney. The laws in the fertility industry are not settled, and it is not a good idea to move forward without proper representation. Our Egg Donors and Surrogates are REQUIRED to have an attorney in every cycle.
